A keypad that does arithmetic, so a split bill is typed rather than worked out first. Each entry carries its account, category, currency and note, and can be tagged to the person it was really for without splitting into two rows.

Net worth
Everything you own minus everything you owe, drawn over time. The line begins where your dated history begins: Pico will not invent a flat past to make an early chart look fuller than the record supports.

Books
Keep personal money and a side business in separate ledgers, with an account shared between them where it genuinely is one account. Exchange rates are held per book, and a combined total that cannot be priced says so rather than showing a wrong number.

Nothing lost
Deleting moves things to a Recycle Bin. Emptying it is the only real delete in the whole app. And the entire library exports to one JSON file you keep: every ledger, account, transaction, budget, rule, goal, holding and rate.

Dark mode is drawn, not inverted. The canvas goes to true black so an OLED screen actually switches those pixels off, while surfaces lift in a navy that is mixed from the same ink as the light palette. The money colours hold their meaning in both: sage for in, clay for out.

Most finance apps are judged on what they show you. Pico is built around what it refuses to show you.
Numbers line up
Tabular figures, so a column of money aligns on the decimal point. Negatives carry accounting parentheses as well as colour, which is what a red-green colourblind reader actually reads.
Real minor units
Currencies are not all two decimal places, and Pico does not pretend otherwise. Rounding is banker's rounding, applied once, where the arithmetic ends.
Prices carry their date
There is no market feed. Holding prices and exchange rates are typed by you and stamped with the moment you typed them, and every figure derived from one is labelled with that date. Nothing is dressed up as live.
The tips do arithmetic, not guesswork
Pico notices things: a subscription that renewed, a budget running hot, a balance heading low. Every line it says traces back to a rule you could read and a sum you could check. No model, no network, no guessing.

The ghost is the one place Pico speaks up. It only ever says something a rule detected and a sum can prove, which is why it is allowed to be charming.

Not a policy promise. A property of the binary: Pico makes no network requests at all.
There is no URLSession anywhere in the app. No price feed, no exchange-rate service, no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier. Nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing switched on.
There is no Pico account, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing for us to hold. Your books live on your device. If you are signed into iCloud they also mirror to your own private CloudKit database. That is Apple’s infrastructure, sitting under your Apple Account, and we cannot read it. We run no servers for this app.
The app asks for exactly one permission, Face ID, and only if you turn the lock on. The two links it carries open in Safari rather than fetching anything, so even the About screen keeps the promise literally.

The privacy manifest declares zero tracking domains and zero collected data types.

Sync runs through your private CloudKit database. We have no access to it.

None of this is in the beta. It is listed here so you can see where Pico is going, not what it already does.
A financial coach that cannot be wrong about money
Ask whether you can afford something and get an answer with the figures behind it. The arithmetic is deterministic code over your own ledger; the on-device model only reads the question and phrases the result. A model that does the sums is occasionally confidently wrong, and the failure mode is telling someone they can afford what they cannot.
Home-screen widgets
Net worth and the month at a glance, plus a quick-add that opens straight onto the keypad. The snapshot the widgets read is already written on every save, so the work left is the extension itself.
A licensed price feed, if one earns its place
The provider seam is kept whole, so a licensed feed is a single conformance away and no call site changes. Until one is licensed for redistribution, typed prices with an honest date beat borrowed ones with a fake heartbeat.
